Those of you who were there, were no doubt aware that it was a complete surprise to me. I was absolutely stunned!
I felt a great sense of pride on receiving the award. However, all the work I have
done and help I have given, both to other handbell teams and individual ringers,
could not have been achieved without the initial training and then the backing and
support of the Ecclesfield Handbell Ringers, throughout the years. I would like to
thank them all for their continuing commitment to handbell ringing. We are all getting
older and hopefully the tradition will continue in Ecclesfield in future generations.

Hello, I'm a member of HRGB, but have never before bothered to get in touch and report
what I've been doing with my set of bells. I don't have a regular team as such -
I mainly get groups having a go. I thought it might be interesting for people to
hear what I've done?
In September, I was asked to take a 2 hour training session for
the Durham Music Service. I had 3 sets of bells - my own, my father's and a borrowed
set from a primary school. All 50 peripatetic teachers had a go and seemed to enjoy
it! From that, I was asked to start a group with some members of the Durham Youth
Choir - we've had 2 practices so far.
I play the cello, and when I went to a residential
weekend with the Cobweb Orchestra (the network of amateur orchestras across the North
of England), I was asked to bring the bells as the surprise after dinner item. They
all had a go, and being able to read from music, were very good.
I have a small group
at my school and on occasions, at church, too.
