HONOURED MEMBER CITATION
Hazel Bradey - Ecclesfield Handbell Ringers
Ecclesfield Handbell Ringers have, for over a century, been synonymous with the traditions of Yorkshire off-table ringing in the North of England.
One member of the band Hazel Bradey, has been ringing with Ecclesfield for 40 years. However it is not simply her ringing in Ecclesfield which is the subject of this citation but rather to acknowledge her unfailing enthusiasm for handbell ringing in the widest context and, in particular, her commitment to the aims and objectives of Handbell Ringers of Great Britain.
Hazel is an authority on all aspects of off-table ringing and has supported many local and national HRGB events. Her role as Musical Director of Ecclesfield Handbell Ringers has enabled her to engage with Local Education Authority providers giving workshops on the subject.
As an experienced conductor of handbell groups Hazel has also received invitations to conduct handbell concerts and events in other regions of HRGB
Her infectious enthusiasm for handbell ringing has influenced the formation and development of many handbell groups, particularly in the North East Region, and her readiness to offer help, encouragement and support has been valued by many ringers who have gained greatly from her experience.
Within the North East Region Hazel has held the position of Chairman from 1986 to 1995 and has since continued to be a valued member of the Committee. Her wisdom and knowledge as a practical ringer, arranger and conductor has been invaluable.
